As December is coming to a close and we all prepare for a well-earned break, I have spent some time reflecting on all that the team at CFF have achieved in this past year. It’s been a big one, and despite the challenges felt across the industry we have remained focused on delivering high quality carbon projects across Australia.
A few weeks ago, I took the time to touch base with our clients and ask for feedback on their overall experience of working with CFF and where we could improve. Their feedback really summed up the dedication and hard work the team have poured into supporting projects this year, with every client indicating they would recommend us to a friend or colleague who was interested in carbon farming. I felt incredibly proud to hear how valued our team is and how their high standards and technical expertise doesn’t go unnoticed when delivering high integrity projects.
Although we didn’t have an active Reforestation by Environmental or Mallee Plantings FullCAM method for almost half the year, we still supported the registration of 12 projects under the ACCU scheme. This represents approximately 4,150Ha of land approved for vegetation projects to be undertaken, with many preparing for planting next year. We are also the leading carbon service provider for establishing new plantation forestry projects (Schedule 1) with 10 projects registered to date.
We continued to further support our clients with two offset reports and associated audits completed under both the Reforestation and Plantation Forestry methods. I look forward to seeing 2022’s project implementation work coming to fruition as we complete offset reports for these projects next year.
We also expanded our service offering this year, to include the Accounting for Nature framework, becoming certified general experts, and providing facilitated services to undertake carbon accounting through the AIA Environmental Accounting platform. We’re excited to be putting these new skills to the test with our first Environmental Account planned for one of our Reforestation projects being planted next year.
There were some significant movements in the ACCU Scheme including the draft release of the new 2024 Full Carbon Accounting Model (FullCAM), sunsetting of the 2014 Reforestation method, and the release of the new 2024 Reforestation method in late November. At various points throughout these developments, we have provided consultation and feedback on behalf of landowners to ensure your viewpoints are represented and included in these important discussions.
As a small team, we wear many hats and have worked tirelessly to ensure that we are providing landowners with easy access to educational materials so they can better understand the carbon opportunity. We have been working behind the scenes to create a brand-new website that will enhance user experience and keep the latest in carbon farming at your fingertips – watch this space for its launch early next year!
We have a lot to look forward to in 2025, particularly now we have a new Reforestation method ready to go. One of the first things we’ll be doing is kicking off a new webinar series with new guests and topics.
I hope you have a wonderful holiday with your families and we look forward to continuing our work together in the New Year!
